Lilium ledebourii ( Persian: سوسن چلچراغ, "Susan-e-chelcheragh") is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Liriotype section . The species is considered endangered.

description

Lilium ledebourii is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 50 to 150 centimeters. The yellow onions are oval and reach a diameter of about 5 to 7 cm, they are strongly segmented, the scales are lanceolate.

The stem is hard and straight. The upright, finely haired leaves on the edge are linear to lanceolate and between 10 and 14 centimeters long and 1 to 2 centimeters wide and papillary along the veins on the underside .

The plant blooms in June and July with 1 to 15 fragrant flowers nodding in a panicle . The hermaphroditic flowers , which are up to 13 centimeters long, are threefold, the bracts are lanceolate and blue at the tip. The six identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) are strongly bent back and form a tiara 4 to 6 cm in diameter. The basic color of the flowers is white, green towards the base and purple in the middle towards the tip of the tepal. The filaments are green and the pollen are bright red. The seeds ripen by September in 3 to 4.5 centimeters long and 2.5 to 3.2 centimeters wide, inverted egg-shaped and almost hexagonal seed capsules and germinate with a delay - epigeuric .

distribution

The species is endemic in a small area in the Talysh Mountains as well as in the borderlands of Iran and Azerbaijan and in Amarlu (Iran) at altitudes around 2100 m. In northern Iran (Amarlu) a 0.6 hectare protected area was created for them.

Lilium ledebourii needs a dry, sunny position in well-drained soil, it is very susceptible to moisture.
