Lilla Luleälven is the southern and smaller headwaters of the Luleälven in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden .
With its source river Tarraätno ( Sami: Tarrajåkkå ), it forms a 238 km long river that drains an area of about 9800 km².
The Tarraätno has its source in the south of the Sarek Mountains, from where it flows southeast to Kvikkjokk and flows into Lake Saggat . The Lilla Luleälven then flows through a chain of lakes in an easterly direction, which includes the lakes Skalka and Randijaure . Its direction of flow is mainly south-east-east. It passes the small town of Jokkmokk and finally meets the Stora Luleälven coming from the north near Vuollerim , with which it forms the Luleälven .
The most important tributaries are the Rapaätno from the north and the Pärlälven from the south.
At Lilla Luleälven there are a number of hydropower plants operated by Vattenfall AB . These are Seitevare (1967, 225 MW), Parki (1970, 20 MW), Randi (1976, 86 MW), Akkats (1973, 158 MW) and Letsi (1967, 456 MW).
