Lilling

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lilling is a district of the town of Graefenberg in the Forchheim district in Upper Franconia . The place was first mentioned in 1205 under the name Lugelinge as the property of the Weißenohe monastery . The ending -ing in the place name indicates a Bavarian settlement, as well as the location on the western border of the Bavarian Nordgau (roughly corresponds to today's Upper Palatinate ).

Until it was incorporated on May 1, 1978, Lilling was an independent municipality with the districts of Sollenberg, Lillinger Höhe, Wölfersdorf and Erlastrut. After the regional reform, Lilling, Lillinger Höhe and Sollenberg were attached to Graefenberg. Wölfersdorf and Erlastrut came to Hiltpoltstein .

In contrast to the rest of the Graefenberg municipality, the area around Lilling is Catholic. In 1817 a Sollenberg farmer built the St. Marien chapel between Lilling and Sollenberg. However, the church was initially refused a blessing until it was rebuilt in 1872 and now also consecrated. The local parish fair is celebrated on the last weekend of June.

Lilling is still dominated by agriculture, mainly through fruit and hops cultivation , which is why there is also a nature and agricultural educational trail there.
