Limmared is a locality ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Västra Götaland and the historical province of Västergötland . The place is located in the municipality of Tranemo about 35 km southeast of the city of Borås and 5 km north of the community center Tranemo .
The place is an intermediate stop of the Kust till kust-banan from Gothenburg via Borås to Kalmar / Karlskrona and was formerly a railway junction when the Falköping – Landeryd railway crossed there and the narrow-gauge Falkenberg – Limmared railway ended.
history
The Limmared glassworks (Limmareds glasbruk) was founded in 1740. Today, glass packaging, especially container glass for pharmaceutical products, children's foods and the vodka brand Absolut Vodka are produced. The glass factory was part of the Swedish PLM Group (AB Plåtmanufaktur) until 1999 , after which it belonged to Rexam from 1999 to 2007 and is now part of the Ardagh Packaging Group .
