Tranemo is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland . The main town of the municipality is Tranemo .
history
During the municipal reform of 1952, the surrounding parishes ( socks ) became the four large parishes Dalstorp, Limmared, Länghem and Tranemo. These large communities were merged in 1974 to form today's community.
Before the merger of Älvsborgs län , Skaraborgs län and Göteborgs och Bohus län to Västra Götalands län , Tranemo belonged to the province of Älvsborgs län.
In the village there is also “ Torpa stenhus ”, a castle from the late 15th century.
Tranemo IF is a previously successful sports club in the municipality .
