The municipality Lysekil is located in the province Bohuslän ( Sweden ) / administrative province Västra Götalands län . It is located about 100 kilometers by road north of Gothenburg .

geography

The municipality of Lysekil stretches along the 25 km long Gullmarsfjord , which forms the municipality boundary to the south, but also includes the island of Skaftöland , usually called Skaftö , south of the fjord and the offshore archipelago. The archipelago is partly an old cultural landscape. The Gullmarsfjord has a unique marine biotope.

There is always talk of building a bridge over the Gullmarsfjord. This would replace the ferries currently operating between Finnsbo and Skår / Bokenäs and reduce the travel time between Lysekil and the E6 at Torp and to the island of Skaftö by around 20 minutes. Currently (2016) the construction of a fee-financed pontoon bridge is being discussed.

There is a regular passenger ferry between Lysekil and Fiskebäckskil .

economy

About a third of the population is employed in industry, which is concentrated in the main town of Lysekil and Brastad . Lysekil also has an important trading port with connections mainly to Europe.
