Coordinates: 57 ° 30 ′ N , 12 ° 42 ′ E Mark is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland . The main town of the municipality is Kinna .
The state road 41 and the railway line Borås – Varberg ( Viskadalsbanan ) run through the municipality . The community was formed in the course of the local reform of 1971 by amalgamating two minor towns and six rural communities. The name is derived from a former harde .

economy
Mark was an area with strong textile production as early as the Middle Ages. In the 19th century the traditional home and publishing industries were replaced by factories. Even today, around 50% of the workforce in industry is active in the textile sector.
