The Lindenparkschule Heilbronn is a state special needs education and advice center with a boarding school with a focus on language and hearing. There, children and young people with hearing and language impairments are taught learning and intellectual development in the educational programs of elementary school, secondary school, secondary school, secondary school. The educational plans for the specialization hearing and the specialization language are applied overridingly . The school authority is the state of Baden-Württemberg .
history
The Lindenparkschule was established in 1966 from the merger of the state school for the deaf in Schwäbisch Gmünd and the state school for the deaf in Bönnigheim , initially only hearing-impaired children were taught. In 1977 a three-storey school and boarding school building was added.
The Lindenpark School will be gradually modernized by the end of 2021. The modernization of building section H is intended to lay the foundations for this. In 2019, the renovation of building section H began, in which a modern advice center is to be built.

Differences to the public mainstream school
In order to better cater to the individual needs of the students, the classes only consist of around 15 students. The building was specially converted to meet the needs of the hearing impaired: special sound-absorbing walls, floors and ceilings have been installed in every room to minimize background noise . The facility also includes electronic boards designed to make learning easier for students. All signals such as fire alarms , bell rings and, since 2009, the amok alarm are transmitted both acoustically and visually . Teachers are equipped with microphones that transmit acoustic signals to the students' hearing aids . Around 320 students attend the school, 60 of whom live in the boarding school during the week. The other students, from the regions of North Württemberg and North Baden, either come by public transport or are brought by shared taxis . A total of 170 employees, including 90 teachers , work at the school.

The Lindenparkschule is the only special needs education and advice center with a language focus in Baden-Württemberg that leads to a secondary school leaving certificate.
The school supports schools with similar target groups in Morocco , Nigeria , Eritrea and Kosovo with financial donations or by donating disused material equipment.
