The Linnich mill pond |
The Linnicher Mühlenteich (also called Teichbach , from the connection point to the Wurm also called Erlenbach on maps) is a watercourse branched off from the Rur above the Linnich weir . He was assigned the water code number (GWK) 2826.
course
The Linnicher Mühlenteich crosses the Merzbach behind Linnich and flows in a northerly direction, first east past Brachelen . Between Hilfarth and Porselen it is connected to the Wurm and absorbs part of the worm water, especially when the Wurm floods. The further bed of the Linnicher Mühlenteich from the connection with the Wurm corresponds roughly to the earlier course of the Wurm, from the connection point the Linnicher Mühlenteich is named Erlenbach on maps . The Erlenbach flows into the Rur north of Bleckden, a district of Porselen, at the Schanz opposite Lake Adolfo. The Wurm, on the other hand, only unites with the Rur at Heinsberg- Kempen.
Mills and tanneries
As the name Mühlenteich suggests, the stream once powered numerous water mills and was also used by various tanneries . In Linnich he drove the Weitz'sche Mühle in the city center. The completely renovated and expanded building above the watercourse now houses the German Glass Painting Museum .
