Lion Feuchtwanger Prize
The Lion Feuchtwanger Prize is a literary prize for historical prose . It was awarded annually from 1971 to 1992; since then it has been awarded irregularly on the occasion of Lion Feuchtwanger's birthday on July 7th. The prize is endowed with € 7,500 and is awarded by a three-person jury.
The prize was donated by Feuchtwanger's widow Marta Feuchtwanger and was awarded by the Academy of Arts of the German Democratic Republic until German reunification , then by the United Academy of Arts in Berlin . From 1993 to 1997 the award was not awarded.
