Liselotte is a composition of Lise and Lotte ; these in turn are short forms of Elisabeth and Charlotte . A variant of the name is Lilo .

The name Liselotte was not very popular in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. However, his popularity grew rapidly, so that in the second half of the 1910s and the first half of the 1920s he was often among the ten most awarded girl names of the respective year.
