Liselotte Malkowsky

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Liselotte Malkowsky , b. Sebode, originally Liselotte-Berta Meyer (born October 9, 1913 in Hanover ; † February 16, 1965 there ), was a German pop singer , actress and cabaret artist . She also sang under the pseudonym Anneliese Thouret .

Life

Liselotte Malkowsky first grew up in Hanover with her adoptive parents Sebode. When she died in a car accident, she ended up in Hamburg , where she was allowed to sing in the St. Michaelis church choir as a child and later with the Hamburg teachers' choir. As a teenager, she traveled through St. Pauli with a Salvation Army choir .

After school she went to the Bremen School of Applied Arts to become a bookbinder. But on an excursion she met the chemist Peter Malkowsky, who married her. She lived with him in Heidelberg . Through a friend she got a role in the revue “Spring Fever” in Munich at the age of 19 , where she appeared under the pseudonym “Helga van Hoven”. This was followed by appearances in Berlin , where she had the opportunity to accompany her songs on the guitar herself. In 1942 she got a record deal and initially took on a few "hang-through hits". Other titles were published under the pseudonym "Anneliese Thouret". With her songs, she supervised soldiers' troops.

After the war she performed in American pubs. Then she got a contract with RIAS Berlin, where she sang along with Ralph Benatzky's radio operetta “Liebesgeschichten” .

In 1947 she resumed records and made her way as a bar singer. Through an appearance in the revue When the Big City Sleeps (1948), she was committed to the then NWDR . Then she recorded more records with various orchestras. The records were played all over Europe, but initially there was no real hit. From 1951 she published seaman's songs. She landed her first great success with The Old Sailor Can't Sleep at Night , so that she then recorded several corresponding songs. She couldn't get rid of the “sea shanty image”. The song The Heart of St. Pauli was also a great success in Denmark , so that in 1959 she moved to North Jutland . In 1962 she returned to Germany. But then their songs were no longer successful. Marked by alcoholism and hardening of the liver, she appeared for the last time on television ( Haifischbar ) in 1963 . She lived with her birth mother until the end and died in February 1965 in Hanover. She found her final resting place in the Stöcken cemetery .
