Liselotte Richter

Liselotte Richter (born June 7, 1906 in Berlin ; † January 16, 1968 there ) was a German philosopher and theologian .

Liselotte Richter studied philosophy , theology and German literature in Berlin , Marburg and Freiburg from 1926 to 1932 . She heard from Martin Heidegger , Edmund Husserl and Erich Frank , among others , and received her doctorate from him in 1932. She was particularly interested in the writings of Sören Kierkegaard .

Academic activity

During National Socialism, Liselotte Richter worked for the Leibniz Edition company of the Prussian Academy of Sciences and from 1943 to 1945 she worked as a DRK nurse in the care of the wounded. After the Second World War , she became district councilor for education and culture in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg , completed her habilitation at Humboldt University and in 1948 was the first woman in Germany to be appointed to a professorship for (pure) philosophy. As part of the redesign of Philosophy (University Reform 1950-51 2) in the GDR in 1951 forced out of the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Theology of the Humboldt University Liselotte Richter weggelobt . Here she received a professorship with a chair in the philosophy of religion - as the first female scientist in Germany. Her chair belonged to the systematic theology sub-department in the faculty. She commuted between her place of residence in the West Berlin district of Charlottenburg and her place of work in East Berlin , so she was a cross-border commuter , even after the building of the Wall she continued her teaching activity. After a long and serious illness, she died on January 16, 1968 and was buried in Luisenfriedhof II in Berlin-Westend . Her grave is dedicated to the city of Berlin as an honorary grave .

The Theological Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin honored Liselotte Richter on her 100th birthday with a commemorative event on June 7, 2006. Richard Schröder , Catherina Wenzel and Michael Weichenhan created the commemorative volume “After every sunset I am wounded and orphaned . ” Published for Liselotte Richter on her 100th birthday . Since 2007, the Leibniz-Edition Potsdam of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences has awarded the Liselotte Richter Prize, endowed with 1000 euros, to the upper secondary schools of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg every two years.
