From the beginning, ancient history is taught in Stuttgart in conjunction with history, not classical philology. Initially, the focus of the university, which was called "United Real and Trade School" from 1829 to 1876 and "Technical University" from 1876 to 1967, was on economics and technical disciplines, which was also reflected in the courses on ancient history. Ancient history has not been taught since 1925. An ancient history chair was established in 1976. Eckart Olshausen held the chair until 2008, and since then Peter Scholz .
The first column shows the name of the person and their life data, the second column shows entry into the university, and the third column shows their departure. Column four names the highest position achieved at the University of Stuttgart. At other universities, the corresponding lecturer may have made an even more extensive scientific career. The next column lists special features, the career path or other information relating to the university or institute. The last column shows pictures of the lecturers, which is currently difficult due to the image rights.
