former Holy Spirit Church Borken | Borken Heilig-Geist-Straße 12 map |
Former Heilig-Geist-Kirche, now a local history museum and conference room, originally the guest church of the Hlg. Geist Hospital, profaned since 1809, single-nave brick building with roof turrets, built around 1380-1390.
The north and south sides are made of glazed bricks as a display gable with blind arcades, arched friezes and diamond patterns. After the war damage, the building was restored in 1950–1952 and changed according to the new purpose. The facade represents one of the most important Gothic brick church facades in northwest Germany. |

Wayside shrine | Borken Am Geelen Graben, between Wilbecke and Mühlenstraße |
It is the oldest of the Baroque wayside shrines made of Baumberger sandstone in Borken, which follow the type widespread in the Münsterland. The wayside shrine has a retracted rectangular base with strong volutes on the sides. The inscription plate is weathered. Rectangular niche with garland decoration on the front of the cheeks. The relief on the obverse shows the coronation of Mary in heaven by God the Father and Christ. The reverse shows Christ on the Mount of Olives. Both reliefs are badly weathered. Curved round gable end with cartouches flanked by putti, in a dating. | 1701 | 11/30/1983 | A 2

Cross on the Beckenberg | Borken Max-Planck-Straße / Ramsdorfer Postweg map |
At this point, the Order of St. John of Borken created a cemetery near the infirmary (leprosy house). The crucifix in the middle of the old trees is artistically insignificant (around 1900). As an old leprosy station with the hill that can be seen from afar, it is an important example of a part of the urban social structure that was firmly established in the Middle Ages because it is almost nowhere else preserved. | 1655 | 11/30/1983 | A 4

Crucifix at the Lindenhof | Borken Raesfelder Straße, at the Lindenhof |
The crucifix is nicely located in a small green area. It was donated by Ernst-Wilhelm Kuhfuß, who was a canon at the St. Remigius parish.
Description: Broad, probably younger stone base, smoothly plastered, cross beams made of sandstone, curved cartouche for the INRI shield, body made of wood, painted in white, hanging unusually deep, strongly folded loincloth with puff, particularly fine and expressive the slender head tilted to one side . From an artistic point of view, the crucifix is one of the high-quality baroque sculptures in Westmünsterland. |

Hochkreuz at the war memorial near Aehling | Hoxfeld near Hof Aehling on the road from Borken to Vardingholt |
Named on the Boaken, four protective trees, on a high new wooden pole a richly decorated wrought-iron cross, on it a rotating swan, in the manner of a tower cross; Difficult to date, no later than 19th century | 19th century | 11/30/1983 | A 6

Wayside shrine | Weseke Königsweg / Am Friedhof map |
The base of the wayside shrine is only half preserved. Rectangular niche with relief: Christ before Pilate. The wayside shrine is weathered beyond recognition. The upper end of the wayside shrine is designed with a triangular gable and a cross (iron) with a ball. The wayside shrine belongs to the group of baroque wayside shrines of the Münsterland style that still characterize Weseke. | 18th century | 11/30/1983 | A 7

Ev. church | Gemen Ahauser Strasse / Coesfelder Strasse 1 map |
The complex, built in 1703 as a reformed church, is part of the historic and art-historical complex of the castle and freedom of Gemen. The simple church structure follows Dutch style motifs, but more of the Lower Rhine-Bergisch customs in the complex. It is the only surviving Baroque Protestant church in the Münsterland. The older furnishings come from the abandoned Lutheran church in Gemen: pulpit, baptismal font from around 1600 , epitaphs from 1581, 1597 a. 1606 Of the furnishings created for the church, the following should be emphasized: coat of arms glass window with coat of arms, early 18th century . Organ prospectus (early 18th and mid-19th centuries). |

Statue d. St. Johannes Nepomuk | at Papenstegge 2 card |
The statue was moved. Their original location was on Mühlenstrasse. The sandstone statue is now placed near the pond on the Papenstegge. A narrow plate with circumferential writing was placed on the renewed rectangular base (still legible: JOANNIS NEPOMUK). The chronogram is unfortunately destroyed. It is a sturdy statue of the baroque type. The numerous fine key folds are striking. The crucifix and the martyr's palm are embraced by the left arm. The figure is vigorously modeled and artistically expressive. The statue belongs to the high-quality group of baroque statues in honor of this saint in the Münsterland. | 02/01/1984 | 1731 | A 9

St. John Nepomuk |
Burlo Vennebülten map |
The artistically valuable statue of St. John Nepomuk in Burlo used to stand on Cotton Road on the border with Oeding (border of the old districts of Borken and Ahaus). It is made of Baumberger sandstone and dates from the 18th century. Original text: A baroque sandstone slab with a cartouche rests on an older brick plinth. The statue of the saint stands on it. It is made of sandstone. The new color scheme is unfortunate and disfiguring the protective roof. The statue itself is artistically valuable. The stars of the ring around the saint are lost. Slight variations of the baroque type are in its fixed iconography. |

Cross group | Gemen parish near Hof Jünck, Gemenwirthe 12 |
The group of crosses is located in a pretty neo-Gothic enclosure with a cast iron fence. In 1867 the sandstone crucifix was placed with a rectangular base, and in 1910 Maria and Johannes - also made of sandstone - with corresponding bases were added. The figures are painted white. The foundation inscriptions are from the court owners who had the sculptures installed. The neo-Gothic group shows an artistically closed effect. | 1867, 1910 | 02/06/1984 | A 11

St. John Nepomuk | Grütlohn formerly Hof Garriß, Wickinghof / Elsstegge |
The statue probably comes from the homestead of the former Wiekinghof house (today: Kaß), in whose line of sight from the cul-de-sac it is. The statue is made of sandstone. It has a fine base with chamfered corners and a cranked base and cornice. On the end plate, the statue stands in fine baroque movement in the iconographically established type of the 18th century. | Middle of the 18th century | 02/06/1984 | A 12
