The above-mentioned object is a two-storey, gable-independent half-timbered house from the middle of the 18th century. The southern eaves wall has been preserved relatively unadulterated along three axes drawn apart, with the elevated house entrance in the central axis. The house has a quarry stone base and a street-side cellar. The gable wall and the adjacent extension on the right have been renewed. Inside you can still clearly see the three-room type that is characteristic of this region with a central hearth and a street-side room. The internal structures that indicate the purpose of these rooms are still preserved. The construction and processing methods of the 18th century can be read from the half-timbered construction. In addition, the structure of the house provides information about the standard of living and lifestyle of the people at the time of construction. In addition, this house is part of the historical development on Odenbachstrasse in Blens and contributes to the closed, village-like streetscape of this location. M. 18th century 07/07/1994 86

Former four-winged medieval castle in an exposed location in the Rur Valley. The two-story house from 1791, probably built on the medieval foundation walls, has been preserved to this day. The simple residential building with a gable roof and openings framed in sandstone hips is regularly structured with the main entrance in the central axis facing the courtyard. The former plastering is missing. With its characteristic building details, it documents the building work and architectural language of the late 18th century. The three modern dormers impair the otherwise harmonious appearance of the main building. Inside, on the ground floor, the classic three-room floor plan with a large hall in the middle area. The courtyard paving made of Rur pebbles is characteristic and still rare. 1791 04/02/1991 60

The aforementioned object is a two-storey residential and storage house, which was essentially built in the 17th century; however, it experienced changes in the 19th century. The residential part, the gable facing the street, is divided by three residential axes; As usual, the hearth space is housed in the central axis; inside, the clearly legible hearth reveals its former purpose as a hearth space. The other rooms (room and chamber) can be read at least from the structure in the interior of the house. Characteristic of the early construction period are signs of construction and processing features on the timber framing. With the help of the tapped anchor beams and the traces of a cross-frame window, features can be discovered that indicate the early building age around 1600 or 1610. The extension to the side of the main house dates back to the 19th century and can also be clearly dated to this period due to its woodwork. The half-timbered barn behind it is part of the house. The paved driveway with the regionally typical Rurkiesel pavement is characteristic of the courtyard and is also a listed building. The monument value is based on the age of the building, the historical details of the residential building and the overall layout of the courtyard. According to the half-timbered construction, this property is one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Hasenfeld. 17th century 07/07/1994 85

Hausen Castle Hausen
Hausener Strasse 14
map
The former moated castle complex in Hausen fulfills the requirements for classification as a monument according to § 2 DSchG.

With the exception of the following components of the Gillessian half of the courtyard: interior construction of the residential building in the south-west corner (ground floor, upper floor, roof truss); Interior construction, roof structure and courtyard front of the south wing (so-called old cowshed); Interior fittings and roof structure of the east wing (formerly horse stable); Interior work on the cellar, courtyard wall and roof structure of the north wing (so-called new cowshed); Shed extension on the northern outer wall.

The listed components are therefore the outer walls and the cellar of the house, the gate on the south side, the southern outer wall (if made of quarry stone), the outer walls of the eastern courtyard buildings including the dividing wall from 1832, north and west walls, and the vaulted cellars of the north wing.

The field stone paving of the courtyard and the bluestone fountain bowl set up in front of the house continue to be part of the historical complex. The remains of the castle complex hidden in the ground are classified as ground monuments.

The development of the castle can still be clearly seen on the basis of the current structure; the oldest two-part moated castle determined the scope and type of complex of all subsequent buildings. Remains of the castle from the 14th and 15th centuries can be found in the Gilles house, in the south wall and in the north wing and in the floor under the later buildings. The medieval castle house was expanded in the 16th century to create an angular structure with a stair tower, large cross-frame and cross-frame windows, three of which and the remains of a toilet dungeon in the western outer wall have been preserved. Various traces have remained of the interior structure, due to which ceiling heights, e.g. T. entrances, window niches, a chimney and a toilet as well as various original wall surfaces (plasters) can be recorded.

The former Zwinger on the north side of the castle house was laid out in the 16th century at the latest and was subsequently covered with the still preserved arched arches / cap vaults; Remnants of the older north wall of the castle limit the corridor to the south.

The former outer bailey (now part of Adam's court) was completely renovated in the 17th / early 18th century based on the layout of the previous complex. According to the reliable drawing by R. Roidkin, the mansion, which was partly ruined in the first quarter of the 18th century, was largely renovated and heavily modified in the 19th century. The stair tower at the angle to the south wing disappeared, the south wing was converted into a cowshed. The courtyard side of the remaining west wing was renewed in the eight-axis division that still exists today, and the old coat of arms was reused. Of the cellars, the southern one was retained and given a new, flatter vault, the other cellars have been filled. A barn was built above the kennel and later turned into a cowshed. The partition wall to the eastern half of the courtyard, the former outer bailey, was covered with the horse stable built in front, the broken gate tower was replaced by the existing gate building after the middle of the century.

The changes in the 20th century affected the trenches in the north and east (filled in) and the repair of war and fire damage (1945 and 1973). The preserved historical components, however, as shown above, allow a clear presentation of the castle's history. In terms of the DSchG, the former Hausen Castle is important for human history, as it represents an essential, centuries-long section of national and social history with a far-reaching influence right up to modern society.

The importance for the region around Heimbach and Nideggen results from the considerable share that fortified aristocratic residences such as Hausen Castle played in the cultivation of the land, the safeguarding and expansion of traffic routes and settlement. The development of the main places mentioned was dependent on the protection of such smaller castles and on their function as small-scale administrative centers. There are scientific reasons for the preservation and use of the buildings, because the existing historical substance offers diverse sources of research and teaching for the history of architecture, construction and castles. I.a. Hausen Castle manifests the typologically significant step from the weakly fortified small ministerial castle of the 14th century to the mansion dominating the valley with facilities for long-range rifles and light artillery, for which the Zwinger, for example, was installed. The preserved remains with their craftsmanship and technical details are very informative in relation to historical building techniques. Last but not least, urban planning reasons are to be determined; The landscape and architecture of the town of Heimbach are determined by the small towns with their scaled, uniform and landscape-bound construction, which in turn are determined by the dominant former aristocratic residences. The Rur Valley, which is accompanied by many and in some cases very important castle complexes, is particularly clear and tangible in its historical dimension.

In the years of the First World War , from 1914 to 1916, the community of Hergarten at the time had a gymnasium and youth hall built for the youth of the village of Vlatten. The architect Eberhard Arens from Gerolstein was entrusted with the planning and construction supervision, who, despite the lack of manpower and building materials at that time, successfully completed the building project in 1916 with the handover of the youth hall, which is representative for the village. The district government made a significant contribution to this project from the youth care program. A single-storey solid building was created on an almost square floor plan, covered by a broad hipped roof with a gable in the center towards the front. A small polygonal lantern marks the intersection of the gable and hip ridge. 1914-1916 05/27/1992 69
