The Roman Catholic Church of St. Dionysius is in Vlatten , a district of the town of Heimbach in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The church is documented until 839. At that time, a chapel belonged to the royal palace , from which the church emerged. Around 1000 the church was the center of the royal court. In the following centuries further construction work took place on the church, and in 1927/28 the north aisle was added. The church has valuable baroque furnishings . Today the parish church of St. Dionysius has only two side altars .

The church was entered on October 1, 1987 under No. 11 in the list of architectural monuments in Heimbach (Eifel) . The text of the entry reads:

“Tower 12th century, early 13th century, extension to a basilica, reconstruction around 1500; Small basilica made of sandstone with a mighty west tower and elongated, drawn-in, polygonal closing choir , the west tower with pairs of arcades , central supports with chalice block capitals and saddlers, drawn-in pointed helmet made of slate , nave and choir with late Gothic tracery windows . Windows and door jambs made of sandstone, choir with remains of a round arch frieze between pilaster strips and sculpted consoles , support pillars added later, entrance to the tower with late Gothic door with rich iron fittings, tower hall with groin vault on columns with chalice block capitals and Attic bases , nave flat roofed, largely renewed, 2nd floor -jochiger, polygonal closing choir with star vault, fittings from the 18th century (main altar, side altars, pulpit, crucifix in the vestibule), numerous sandstone grave crosses from the 18th century around the church , north of the tower late Gothic sandstone baptismal font , in the cemetery north of the church walled burial place of the imperial lords of Gagern around 1930. "

The Weimbs Orgelbau company added the organ to the opus list in 1964 with two manuals and 17 registers .
