List of architectural monuments in the Taranaki region

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of monuments in the Taranaki region includes all monuments and area monuments of the New Zealand region of Taranaki classified as "Historic Place" or "Historic Area" by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (NZHPT) . The information comes from the register of the NZHPT. The names of the architectural monuments are based on this register. Well-known Wahi Tapu (Area), culturally and religiously significant sites and areas of the Māori , are also included in the list. However, they are usually not published.

On May 27, 2013, 157 buildings and monuments (excluding the unpublished Waihi Tapu) were identified in the region, including 19 of Category 1, 131 of Category 2, two Historic Areas, three Wahi Tapu and two Wahi Tapu areas. The list contains all monuments of category 1 and at least basic entries for the entries in the other categories as of May 27, 2013.

The following localities with more than five monuments have their own lists of monuments, all others are summarized in the table below.
