List of architectural monuments in the Canterbury region

This list of monuments in the Canterbury region including all the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a memorial (Historic Place Category 1, 2 or Historic area) classified buildings and areas of protected buildings of the New Zealand region of Canterbury . Unless otherwise stated, the information in the NZHPT register is decisive for the information; the spelling of the lemmas / designations is based as far as possible on the naming in this register, unless articles are already available.

The list also includes Waihi Tapu / Waihi Tapu Area (culturally and religiously significant sites and areas of the Māori ), which, however, have so far mostly not been published on the publicly accessible pages of the NZHPT.

As of May 31, 2013, 802 structures and area monuments (excluding unpublished Waihi Tapu) were identified in the region. These include 146 Historic Places Category 1, 624 Historic Places Category 2, 19 Historic Areas, eleven Wahi Tapu and two Wahi Tapu Areas.

The following incomplete list currently includes at least basic entries of all monuments as of June 16, 2013. Lost monuments are marked with a trailing (†), this applies in the Canterbury region in particular to structures destroyed in the earthquake in Christchurch and the surrounding area.
