List of the bishops of Manchester
The List of Bishops of Manchester represents the episcopal titleholders of the Church of England , the Diocese of Manchester, in the Province of York . The Diocese of Manchester was founded in 1847. Due to the growth of the population in Manchester, the bishop asked in 1924 that the Bishop of Hulme support the diocese. Two new divisions were appointed from Manchester, Middleton and Bolton.
