List of honorary citizens of Unterhaching

The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award the town of Unterhaching . The municipal council honors people who have distinguished themselves through their particularly meritorious work for the community of Unterhaching for the common good. The honor can also be given to personalities whose life's work is so significant that it is a credit to the community.

So far 17 people have been made honorary citizens.

  1. Josef Breiteneicher
    Beneficiary in the Catholic Church of St. Korbinian from 1909 to 1920
    Awarded February 20, 1920
    He actively prevented the church bells from being removed during the First World War.
  2. Josef Prenn (1879–1975)
    City council and mayor
    Awarded on August 1, 1939

  7. Anton Troppmann (1915-2009)
    Municipal council
    Awarded on December 14, 1983
    Troppmann was a local councilor from 1948 to 1984 and from 1978 second mayor. From 1960 to 1964 he was CSU local chairman and from 1968 also belonged to the district council. He was the founding chairman of the Catholic labor movement in 1938 and was elected chairman of the church administration in 1979. In 1983 he received the Federal Cross of Merit.
  8. Rudolf Felzmann (1915–2011)

    Felzmann was a local home attendant until 2004. In 1983 he summarized his research on the history of the community for the first time in a homeland book. Five years later he presented a completely revised edition.
  9. Rosa Bauer (1922–2013)
    Social worker and councilor
    Awarded in 1998
    Bauer was chairwoman of the workers' welfare for 18 years . From 1978 to 2002 she was a member of the local council.

    The social democrat Kriz was a member of the local council from 1960 to 2008.
  11. Marianne Gamperl
    Founder of the non-profit housing association Unterhaching
    Awarded in December 2009
    Gamperl worked from 1941 until her retirement in 1987 for the Unterhaching municipal administration. In 1985 she founded the non-profit housing company Unterhaching (GWU) and continued to volunteer for the company after her retirement. This now has 300 apartments as assets.
  12. Rudolf Pesl (1919-2008)

    In 1989, the art collector founded the Pesl Foundation Unterhaching to “promote culture and education as well as the recreation of needy Unterhaching residents”. He decreed that all of his assets will go to the Unterhaching community after his death.
  13. Klaus Westmar
    Head of Neighborhood Assistance
    Awarded on December 14, 2011
    Westmar took over the neighborhood help in 2004 and expanded its range of activities to include work with child minders. He works in the house pastoral care of the KWA -Wohnstift am Parksee and heads the multiple sclerosis self-help group founded in 1983 with his wife.
  14. Thomas Jaeger

    Thomas Jaeger was a local councilor in Unterhaching for 36 years, including six years as the third mayor of the community. In 1978 he launched the Unterhaching FDP local association and was the only one of his party to join the local council. Furthermore, he has been involved in international exchange since the partnership circles were founded and has been its chairman since 1997.
  15. Volker Panzer

    Volker Panzer sat on the local council for the SPD from 1972-2008 . From 1993 to 2008 he was the second mayor of the municipality. Volker Panzer has been an active member of TSV Unterhaching since 1957 and is involved in the athletics department there. He was nine times Bavarian champion and four times represented in the German national team. In 1972 he took part in the torch relay of the Olympics in Munich. After leaving the local council, Volker Panzer was elected President of TSV Unterhaching. He held this post until 2015.
