List of euro exchange rates

The following list shows the historical performance of the euro against various currencies (annual average). The tables show the number of local currency units that one receives for 1 euro (e.g. 1 euro = 3.61 Brazilian real in 2017). However, the unit of measure of the currency itself does not have to say anything about its relative value. As a result of a currency reform, a new euro could be introduced tomorrow with the value of 100 old euros without the relative value of the euro having increased against other currencies. When assessing the relative strength of a currency, it makes more sense to look at its performance over a long period of time. If the currency is constantly depreciating over a longer period of time, this is a clear indication that the economy of the country or countries that use this currency is in a less robust state than that of the Eurozone (see e.g. the Turkish lira ). In general, exchange rates are influenced by general economic developments, inflation, monetary policy, international capital flows and political events.

Some currencies ( Danish krone , Bulgarian lev , CFA franc ) are tied to the euro and therefore have almost constant exchange rates.
