List of international women's champions (awarded 1961 to 1970)
The list of international women's champions (awarded 1961 to 1970) lists all female chess players who received the title of international women's champions from the world chess federation FIDE between 1961 and 1970 .
In June 2020, 22 of the 37 players honored in these years are still alive. Twelve of the 37 players later achieved the title of women's grandmaster (including Nona Gaprindashvili , who won the 1962 women's world chess championship and was awarded the title of international champion for this success and was the first woman to be named grandmaster in 1978 ), three players became awarded the title of Honorary Grand Master of Women .
Legend
The table contains the following information:
- Name : Give the name of the player.
- Year : The year in which the player was awarded the WIM title.
- Country : States the country for which the player was eligible to play at the time the title was awarded.
- Life data : states the year of birth and possibly the year of death of the player.
- WGM : Indicates the year of the award for players who were later named women's grandmasters.
- HWGM : Indicates the year of the award for players who were later named Honorary Grand Master of Women.
- Other associations : For players who were sooner or later eligible to play for at least one other association, specifies these associations with the periods of entitlement to play (if known). Association changes due to German reunification are not listed, other changes to a successor state are taken into account, provided the player was still active in chess at that time.
