Zsuzsa Verőci (born February 19, 1949 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian chess master .
Life
She learned the game of chess from her older brother and played her first tournament when she was eleven. In 1969 she became International Master of Women (WIM), in 1978 she was awarded the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM). Her first name is written in the long form Zsuzsanna, the surname was after the husband also Verőci-Petronić (Veroci-Petronic), rarely Petronić (Petronic).
Verőci was among the top women in the world, her best result was 2nd place behind Nana Iosseliani at the 1979 interzonal tournament in Rio de Janeiro . In 1980 she lost to Nana Iosseliani 3-6 in Donji Milanovac in the eighth finals of the Candidates' tournament.
Verőci won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 2nd place at the International Ladies Chess Tournament Dortmund 1982 , 2nd place at a women's tournament in Jajce (1983 and 1984), 3rd place at the zone tournament in Balatonfüred (1987) and 1st place at one Women's tournament in Belgrade (1989).
Verőci had her best Elo rating of 2415 in January 1987. She has also been an international referee since 1995 . She acted as the main referee at the Mitropa Cup 2007 and the women's world championships in 2008 and 2015.
National team
With the Hungarian women's team, she took part in the Chess Olympiads in 1966 , 1969 , 1972 , 1974 , 1978 , 1980 , Chess Olympics in 1982 , 1984 , 1986 and 1992 , where she achieved 86 points from 118 games. She reached second place with the team in 1969, 1978, 1980 and 1986, and third place in 1972 and 1982; In the individual ranking she reached second place in 1969, first board in 1980 and second on third board in 1992, and third place on first board in 1982 and 1984. She also represented Hungary at the 1992 European Women's Team Championship.

Verőci played for the Kazincbarcika Városi Sakk Club , with whom she played from 2007 to 2010 in the NB I. Szabó László csoport (the top division of the Hungarian team championship). In the 2018/19 season she played for DVTK Sport Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság .
