history
The first mention as Poreč comes from the 15th century. At that time the place was on the Danube Island of the same name. Because of frequent floods, the place was relocated to the right bank of the Danube in 1830. He was named Milanovac after the eldest son of the Serbian Prince Miloš Obrenović , who in turn became Prince of Serbia in 1839 as Milan I. Obrenović . In 1856 it was named Donji Milanovac , since Gornji Milanovac was founded in central Serbia in the same year .
With the construction of the dam and hydropower plant Đerdap I in 1970, the city was again relocated to a higher location.
