The list of churches, chapels and wayside shrines in Matrei in Osttirol contains the 42 churches, chapels and wayside shrines of the municipality of Matrei in Osttirol ( Lienz district ).

Between the houses of the hamlet of Berg is the Bergerkirchle from the 18th century, consecrated to St. Sebastian. The two-bay chapel building with a shingle-roofed gable roof was renovated in 1975. The interior is dominated by a baroque altar, which was created around 1800. The altar has a rustic painted antependium, the altarpiece shows St. Sebastian, St. New Year and a religious saint as intercessor before Mary.

The Pongitz-Stöckl was built in 1948 by Alois Brugger, with which he expressed his gratitude for returning from the Second World War. The Stöckl was consecrated to the Mother of God in Fatima.

The chapel was built after 1885 and has a slightly retracted round arch choir. On the portal side, a roof turret also rises above the steep clapboard-covered gable roof. The interior of the chapel is dominated by the small altar, which dates from the first half of the 19th century. The altarpiece shows a depiction of the Sacred Heart made by Johann Hinter in 1876.

The chapel was built on a rock in an elevated position in the middle of the village and was built after the building permit was granted in 1885. The interior of the chapel is dominated by the small altar, which dates from the first half of the 19th century. The altarpiece shows a depiction of the Sacred Heart made by Johann Hinter in 1876. Above this, in the extract, there is a depiction of St. Sebastian from the first half of the 19th century.

The "Chapel of All Saints", also called "Feldner Kirchl", goes back to a previous building from the 18th century, which was renovated in 1801 and consecrated on September 29, 1801 by Matreier Vice Dean Georg Brandstätter. The large, baroque building has a striking facade tower and a high-quality inventory.

The Lackner Kirchle is located next to the Lacknerhof (Glanz 8) at an altitude of 1,445 meters and dates from the second half of the 18th century. It is dedicated to the “Visitation of Mary”.

The Roaner Chapel is at an altitude of about 1,435 meters and dates from the first half of the 19th century. It is consecrated to Saint Sebastian and, according to legend, was created on the basis of a vow made by the old Roana farmer who gathered the stones for the shell in her apron.

The plague chapel Lurnschütt is a towerless chapel that was built on the Seintzgerweg, today's Tauerntalwanderweg. Tradition has it that it was built after 1635 and renovated in 1650 after an outbreak of the plague.

The chapel is located by the Stöffler farm (also known as the Steffa or blister farm) and was built in 1970 and donated by the Niederegger-Steiner families. The building goes back to a previous chapel, which was built on this site in 1863 and destroyed by an avalanche. The plans for the newly built chapel come from Roman Huter, and it was consecrated on October 6, 1973.

The chaplain church belonging to the Matreier parish church for the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located at the entrance to the Defereggental in Huben. After the construction of a church had failed several times, the Sacred Heart Church was built between 1925 and 1929 according to plans by the architect Lois Welzenbacher.

The Falter house chapel was built in 1935 on the basis of a pledge next to the Falter farm in Kienburg. After two of his three sons had died in World War I, Franz Mattersberger vowed to build the chapel if the third son survived the war. After the early death of Franz Mattersberger, his returned son Alois Mattersberger redeemed his vow. The walls of the chapel are adorned with depictions of St. Notburga and St. Leonhard.

The St. Veit Stöckl is located in Klaunz on the way to the Kals-Matreier-Törl. It houses a small altar with the image of St. Vitus, the cattle saint.

Klausen is home to a chapel dedicated to St. Chrysanth and St. Daria. The construction of the chapel was approved in 1849 and carried out until 1851, after which it was consecrated on October 25, 1852 by the Matreier dean Johann Wierer.

The Bach Chapel was built in 1611 to protect against the risk of storms, fire and flooding and was probably expanded at the end of the 17th century. The Bach chapel is characterized by a monumental fresco of the Madonna in the protective cloak from 1958; the interior of the chapel is dominated by a baroque altar from the end of the 17th century.

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Alban in Matrei in East Tyrol is the largest rural church in Tyrol with its 86 meter high tower. It was consecrated to St. Alban of Mainz. Despite the overall baroque impression, the church is architecturally at the turn from late baroque to early classicism.

The Mattersberger Kirchl is a chapel shrine that was erected in 1982 as a thank you for the healing of a child of the Mattersberger family. The open chapel shrine has a small, attached tower and was built according to plans by Josef Brugger from Matrei.

The chapel, built in the 1940s and consecrated to the poor souls, goes back to a vow made by the Trager family, who run the Oberfeldnerhof and built the chapel out of gratitude for Peter Trager's return from the Second World War.

The Strimitzer Kirchle in Moos belongs to the Strimitzer Hof and dates from the 19th century. The building made of unplastered field stones has a rectangular floor plan with an apse, above which a shingle-covered gable roof rises.

The Mooserhof houses the Maria-Himmelfahrt-Kapelle, also called Marienkapelle or Mooser Kirchl. The chapel was built in 1894 and consecrated by Dean Georg Unterpranger in 1895. The first fair was only read here in 1911, today (2004) there is an annual fair.

The Anna Chapel is a tumultuous, small chapel that was built in 1881 on the old Tauern Valley Path. The altar dates from the second half of the 19th century, the altarpiece shows St. Anne teaching Mary to read.

In the middle of Proßegg, however, is the Marienkapelle, also called Proßegger Kirchl. It was built in 1950 and replaced a chapel that had already been built nearby in 1863. The exterior of the new building largely followed the previous chapel. The Marienkapelle, the only larger wooden chapel in Matreis, has a rectangular floor plan, a shingle roof and a polygonal end and was built on a high rock base.

The chapel of Saints Helena and Antonius, also called Schapperkirchl, is located on the right bank of the Tauernbach in a meadow. It was built by Jakob Ortner in 1925 and replaced an older building that was consecrated to St. Anthony. Ortner had the chapel built in memory of his sons Phillip and Johann after his son Phillip was killed in the war against Russia in 1915 and his son Johann had an accident while pulling hay in 1923.

Trattnerstöckl or Trattner Kirchle Seblas at Seblas 10a

The Chapel of the Trattnerhof, the so-called Trattnerstöckl, was donated by Peter Mattersberger in 1749 and consecrated to Our Lady of Sorrows in 1756. The chapel is a building with a three-sided choir, which is surmounted by a gable roof and a turret on the portal side.
