The basis is the publication of the Hessian list of monuments, which was created for the first time on the basis of the Monument Protection Act of September 5, 1986 and has been continuously updated since then.

The entire complex of the Bensheim district of Gronau consists of the historic town center concentrated in the Meerbach valley. The mainly of stately half-timbered courtyards from the 17th and 18th centuries. The entire complex with its two different areas, which are shaped by the course of the sea stream, is of particular importance in terms of settlement and economic history. In the Bergstrasse district there are only a few town centers that have been so outstandingly preserved in terms of their basic structure and building stock. |

The floor is a former gallery column of the Protestant parish church, which was rebuilt in 1894. The gallery was shortened on one side for reasons of space, the remaining octagonal support found its new use here, with the old fountain, which was already mentioned in the early 16th century. |

Gable-independent, two-storey half-timbered house with a gable roof. The ground floor, which has probably been largely renewed, is plastered, the half-timbered structure is exposed on the upper floor and has a man-corner construction and a firebock in the pointed gable, as well as rounded filler wood and a profiled threshold to the upper floor. The barn belonging to the Hofreite was renewed, and another farm building that had previously existed was demolished. The courtyard limits the entire Gronau complex to the north and is of local and architectural significance, not least because the Marquart family, who provided several mayors of the town, lived in the building. | around 1750 |

Three-sided courtyard with a gable-independent residential house and a gable-independent barn as a side and a stable-shed building as a rear closure. The house is a stilted two-storey half-timbered building with a saddle roof and a massive wall on the ground floor facing the stream. It was increased in 1942. The farm buildings have massive basement floors and half-timbered gables. The property was built in the 19th century by the Dingeldein millers, who still own the property to this day. The grinder on the ground floor and the overshot mill wheel facing the stream were retained even after the mill was shut down in 1972. | 1859/60 |
