The Lautertal between Bensheim and Schönberg has been developed since the beginning of the 19th century. Towards the end of the century, a number of historicist, upper-class villas were built, mainly on the north slope, adjacent to the site of the former Guntrum brewery. At the foot of these representative residential buildings, one of the first planned country house settlements was finally built on Bergstrasse in 1908. It is one of the first country house settlements in Germany to be uniformly designed from a practical and artistic point of view and, with its partly older peripheral buildings, it is therefore of particular importance in terms of architecture and the history of the settlement as well as architectural art. | 1908 to 1912 |

Complete facility at Rodensteinstrasse | Hospitalstrasse 22; Hermannstrasse 23; Neckarstrasse 65, 66; Rodensteinstrasse 66–96, 73–93 | The entire complex, located south-west of the old town, is characterized by a largely uniform development of houses from the last quarter of the 19th century. Rodensteinstraße was built as a bypass around the still fortified city as early as 1817 and became a bourgeois residential street as a result of the construction of the station. The two-storey houses that were built there show the typical style of late classicism . |

Bensheim station | Amershamplatz 1 Location hall: 1, parcel: 362/35 |
Representative station building on the former Rhein-Neckar Bahn , probably based on plans by Georg Moller , two-storey built of yellow sandstone with a flat hipped roof. Two-story, five-sided porches at both ends of the main facade. The old, horticultural designed station forecourt with the Kaiser Wilhelm monument by Professor Hofmann from Darmstadt has disappeared as has the water tower built in 1911. The Bensheimer Bahnhof is one of the type designs of the Main-Neckar-Bahn, as they were realized along the Bergstrasse in almost all places along the route. As the largest of these train stations, it is of particular urban importance. | 1845/46 |
