The Bensheim District Court (AG Bensheim) is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in the southern Hessian city of Bensheim an der Bergstrasse .

The seat of the court is in Bensheim an der Bergstrasse at Wilhelmstrasse 26. The judicial district of the Bensheim District Court includes the city of Bensheim (including all districts), the district town of Heppenheim (including all districts), the city of Lorsch , the city of Zwingenberg (with the district Rodau ), the municipality of Einhausen and the municipality of Lautertal (with all districts).

Jurisdiction

The Bensheim District Court is the first instance in civil, family and criminal matters for its own judicial district. In addition, it is responsible for youth lay judges and lay judges' court cases in their own district and in the district court districts of Fürth and Lampertheim.

AG Bensheim is not responsible for commercial and association register matters as well as insolvency matters. The Darmstadt District Court is responsible for this. AG Bensheim is also not responsible for dunning procedures. Hesse-wide jurisdiction lies with the Hünfeld district court .

history

At the instigation of the Grand Ducal Ministry of Justice, a district court was established in Bensheim with effect from May 1, 1902, and the associated district court district from the places Bensheim, Elmshausen , Gadernheim , Gronau , Lautern , Ober-Hambach , Raidelbach , Reichenbach , Unter-Hambach , Schönberg , Wilmshausen and Zell . On October 1, 1934, the entire district of the Zwingenberg District Court with the communities Alsbach , Auerbach , Balkhausen , Beedenkirchen , Bickenbach , Fehlheim , Hähnlein , Hochstädten , Jugenheim , Langwaden , Ober-Beerbach , Rodau , Schwanheim , Seeheim , Staffel and Zwingenberg and were repealed the municipalities of Erbach , Groß-Hausen , Heppenheim, Kirschhausen , Klein-Hausen , Lorsch, Ober-Laudenbach , Sonderbach and Wald-Erlenbach from the district of the abolished Lorsch District Court were assigned to the Bensheim District Court. With effect from July 1, 1968, the municipalities of Alsbach, Balkhausen, Bickenbach, Hähnlein, Jugenheim ad Bergstrasse, Ober-Beerbach and Seeheim were added to the Darmstadt District Court . As a result of the regional reform in Hesse , on September 11, 1971, the district of Mittershausen, which was incorporated into Heppenheim, and on September 29, 1972, the districts of Knoden and Schannenbach, incorporated into Lautertal, were separated from the Fürth district court and added to the Bensheim district court.

Superior courts

The Regional Court of Darmstadt and the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main are superordinate to the AG Bensheim .

The building where the district court is located, is an under monument protection standing cultural monument . It was designed by the Darmstadt architect Karl Hofmann and built between 1900 and 1902. On May 1, 1902, the two - storey neo - Romanesque solid building was opened to the public. Until 1980, the two-storey granite-brick court prison was located right next to the building. It was demolished in November 1980.
