Lorsch District Court

The Lorsch District Court (until 1879 Lorsch Regional Court ) was a Hessian court of ordinary jurisdiction with its seat in the city of Lorsch . It had its seat on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz. The historic building has been used by the Lorsch city administration since September 1979.

history

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Darmstadt” was set up as a court of second instance for the Principality of Starkenburg . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or the landlords . The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. “Landgericht Lorsch” was therefore the name of the first instance court in Lorsch from 1821 to 1879. In the territorial territories of the Starkenburg province , there was still a judicial office in Michelstadt for court cases of the second instance, which was subordinate to the court. The German Courts Constitution Act of 1879 led to a uniform judicial organization throughout the empire . The “Hofgericht Darmstadt” has now become the “ Regional Court of Darmstadt ” as the superior second instance in the province, while the first instance courts have been renamed the District Court.

district Court

On the occasion of the abolition of the administrative and judicial offices by the Grand Ducal Hessian Ordinance of July 14, 1821, the Lorsch Regional Court was formed, whose district was initially congruent with the Heppenheim District District and therefore had the following components:

On December 16, 1839, the towns of Großrohrheim, Biblis, Wattenheim and Nordheim were transferred to the newly established Gernsheim district court . On April 1, 1840, the towns of Oberhambach , Unterhambach , Kirschhausen , Erbach , Sonderbach , Walderlenbach and Oberlaudenbach , which had previously belonged to the Fürth district court , were incorporated.

District Court

With effect from October 1, 1879, due to the Courts Constitution Act, it was renamed the Lorsch District Court and assigned to the district of the Darmstadt Regional Court . The district of the now local court consisted of the districts Biedensand ( field markings ), Bobstadt, Boxheimer Hof, Bürstadt, Erbach, Groß-Hausen, Heppenheim, Hofheim, Kirschhausen, Klein-Hausen, Lampertheim with Hüttenfeld and Neuschloß , Lorsch, Lorscher Wald, Ober- Hambach, Ober-Laudenbach, See-Hof (field markings), Sonderbach, Unter-Hambach, Viernheim, Wald-Erlenbach and Wildbahn (forest markings). The municipalities of Ober- and Unter-Hambach were added to the district court of Bensheim , which was newly established on May 1, 1902 , from the district of Lorsch. Furthermore, the district of the District Court of Lampertheim, which opened on June 1, 1905, was formed from the districts of Biedensand (field mark), Lampertheim with Hüttenfeld and Neuschloß, See-Hof (field mark), Viernheim and Wildbahn (forest mark) .

On October 1, 1934, the Lorsch district court was dissolved and the district of Hofheim was assigned to the district court of Worms , the town of Bobstadt and the city of Bürstadt to the district court of Lampertheim and the remaining places to the district court of Bensheim.
