history

In the second half of the 15th century, at the intersection of three important streets, the electoral Palatinate hunting lodge Friedrichsburg , which was first mentioned in 1472, was built. After it was destroyed in the War of the Landshut Succession in 1504 , it was rebuilt and from that time on it was called the New Castle . During the Thirty Years War, the castle was destroyed for the second time on June 10, 1622 and then so badly that it was never rebuilt.

Partial demolition took place as early as 1701. In 1705, the territory became again the unrestricted possession of the Bishop of Worms and since then has been used as a quarry by the village of Lampertheim. As before, the associated farmland was initially leased to herds. The remains of the castle were almost completely dismantled by 1800. In 1803 the area came to the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt on the basis of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , which reorganized the territorial conditions in the Reich , which became part of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806 .

The municipality of Lampertheim bought the castle field in 1808. From 1829 to 1927 the chemical factory Neuschloß started production on the former castle grounds. The demolition of the production facilities in 1927, along with the former canteen and the management building, only survived the commercial and civil servants' building that belonged to the former castle. It is the remainder of the magnificent complex that was built in the 15th century.

The municipality of Lampertheim took over the building and furnished apartments in it in the post-war period . A settlement and a new district of Lampertheim have been built on the old castle grounds since 1950.

As a result of the development of a new building area since the beginning of the 1980s, considerable soil contamination on the site of the former chemical plant became known in the early 1990s . An extensive remediation of contaminated sites has been carried out in Neuschloß since 2003 . The conclusion was marked in September 2011 with a three-day public festival in the castle courtyard. The 2011 census counted 1320 inhabitants.

politics

For Neuschloß there is a local district (settlement areas Neuschloß and "In den Ruthen") with a local advisory board and local chief according to the Hessian municipal code . In the 2016-2021 electoral period, however, no local advisory board was established.
