The District Court of Beerfelden was a court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1879 to 1968 and was based in Beerfelden in what is now the Odenwald district .

history

Until 1879, the first instance jurisdiction in the district, which was subsequently covered by the District Court of Beerfelden , was carried out by the District Court of Beerfelden . With the Courts Constitution Act of 1877, the names of the courts were standardized across the empire . On October 1, 1879, the previous regional courts in the Grand Duchy of Hesse were repealed and replaced by local courts . In fact, that was a renaming.

The higher courts directly superordinate to the local courts were now called “ regional courts ”. The District Court of Beerfelden was assigned to the district of the Regional Court of Darmstadt .

On July 1, 1968, the District Court District of Beerfelden was dissolved and assigned to the District Court of Michelstadt .

building

The district court building at Hirschhorner Straße 58, built around 1910, is a representative complex of two massive, gable-side two-story corner buildings, a mansard roof and lateral bat dormers and a single-storey eaves central building with arched windows and an extended mansard roof. The left corner building has richly decorated window frames on the upper floor and a richly decorated neo-baroque stone portal on the side, which is accessed by a staircase decorated with balustrades. The building, built in the transition style from Neo-Baroque to Darmstadt Art Nouveau, is one of the largest historical buildings in Beerfelden. It is a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
