in the core of the 17th century (mansion) Manor house a characteristic Renaissance building with an angular floor plan with a small corner tower, farm buildings with sometimes elaborate gable designs in the style of historicism, of art and local historical importance.

The former old manor Cannewitz is a four-sided, spacious complex that is located on the edge of the village in the immediate vicinity of the church. For a long time the manor was owned by families of the Saxon nobility. The noble families von Starschedel and von Bünau should be mentioned. The main part of the manor is the castle-like manor house. It is a stately angular building with two floors and a round corner tower facing the courtyard. In essence, it goes back to the late 16th or early 17th century, after a fire in the late 19th century it was given its current shape. The Cannewitz manor with its manor house is an important cultural monument. It is of great historical importance for the place and the region. The property, which is still closed, is one of the most attractive facilities in West Saxony. The manor house shows the characteristic features of a Saxon manor house. Despite the wealth of castles and mansions in the Free State, the number of comparable facilities is limited, so that this is a monument that goes beyond the general and is part of the formative cultural heritage of the country. This national importance also results from the owners in the past. Both the von Starschedel and von Bünau families were noble families who played an important political and cultural role in the history of Saxony and beyond.

  • Manor house: two-storey angular building, plastered solid construction, steep pitched roof with dormers, cornice, corner tower with hood, window frames in porphyry tufa, arbor and portal in porphyry tufa, corner cuboid in porphyry tufa-imitating plaster (artificial stone)
  • Farm building: two-storey, quarry-brick mixed masonry, window frames in artificial stone (on the upper floor only the sills in artificial stone), entrance to the gate emphasized by the gable in rich structure, original plaster structure, original ornamental lattice gate, hipped roof, two risalits to the courtyard, with neo-Renaissance gable gables
  • Large barn: three-storey solid construction, original plaster structure, side building: two-storey, rubble stone base, brick cornice, original plaster structure, window sills in artificial stone, original plaster structure, gable roof, rich gable design
