Evangelical Waldensian Church (entity) | Talstrasse 43 (Flst. 80024, 80025) (map) |
1906 | The Evangelical Church, neo-Gothic, labeled "1906", was built in place of a previous building, which is still remembered by two wooden inscription panels from 1725. Historic stained glass window. Choir rebuilt in 1949 after being destroyed. The rectory probably dates from the same time.
The Waldensian Church in Palmbach is shaped by the history of the Waldensians, who found a new home in Palmbach after their expulsion from the French-Italian border area. The church was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1906 during the tenure of Pastor Meerwein. The sandstones come from local quarries. The interior is almost entirely made of local woods. As far as possible, all work was carried out by Palmbach craftsmen. Before that, there was a small wooden church in the same place, from which the two wooden panels come from, which are now to the right and left behind the altar. The old organ was replaced by a Walker organ - presumably in the course of the new church building in 1906. 1978/1981 a new organ was commissioned, its construction the style of the 18./19. Century. The builder of the slider chest organ was master organ builder Heintz from Schiltach. The new organ was inserted into the existing and appropriately adapted housing. For the 100th anniversary of the church in 2006, the interior was renovated at great expense.
