The building was constructed in several phases: to the south is the painted brick substructure of an older signal box (probably built around 1900), while the current station was built around 1913, a second signal box was added to the north. The plastered substructure has been preserved from this. The associated superstructure was destroyed in World War II. As a replacement, a car body from 1900 was used as an interlocking room. Signal box 14 clearly documents the history of the Karlsruhe train station.
