Rental house Degenfeldstrasse 3 1892 Rental house, 1892 by Ludwig Reiss. The chimney is somewhat shortened, but it is an essential element of the cultural monument. In connection with the overall very well-preserved parts of the tenement house, courtyard, side wing and bakery building, it is a building and social-historical testimony to the expansion of the city in the late 19th century. As part of the cultural monument, it is an impressive testimony to the petty-bourgeois life in the imperial era and thus vividly documents the small-scale relationship between rental buildings and handicraft businesses, which is effective in urban planning. The latter financed - in a new way for this social class - at the time of the great expansion of Karlsruhe, their self-used new building projects through intensive leasing.
