List of stumbling blocks in Düren

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of stumbling blocks in Düren contains the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Düren as part of the project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Düren.

The 10 cm × 10 cm × 10 cm large stumbling blocks are set in concrete blocks with a brass plaque in the sidewalk in front of the houses in which the victims - often not personally determined - had their last residence. The inscriptions provide information about their name, age and fate. The stones serve to commemorate the victims of the National Socialist tyranny and the Holocaust .

In Echtz there are stumbling blocks for the Polish slave laborers Walenty Piotrowski (born 1904) and Franczisek Wysocki (born 1909), who were publicly executed in 1941 for racial disgrace . The stumbling blocks were installed on November 6, 2017 by Gunter Demnig and the Düren service company in the Haarweg in Düren.
