Gerderhahn is a rural district of the town of Erkelenz in the Heinsberg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . To the north is the hamlet of Moorheide. Until 1972, both localities belonged to the municipality of Golkrath .

Gerderhahn is located on the northern edge of the Erkelenzer Börde .

In the north is the hamlet of Moorheide. Beyond this hamlet is the Siemens railway test site Wegberg-Wildenrath test center . Genfeld and Genhof are to the east. In the south Golkrath , west Gerderath and Fronderath .

In 1452 the settlement is called In ghin Hane , 1554 Ingen Hain , 1571 Gerderhaen and 1666 gerderatherhaen .

religion
The population is predominantly Catholic and belonged to the Gerderath parish for centuries. The Holy Trinity Church was built in Gerderhahn in 1901 . In 1928 the place was raised to a parish, in 1930 a cemetery was created.
