geography
location
Lüxheim is located in the fertile Zülpicher Börde am Neffelbach in the northeastern part of the municipality of Vettweiß. The place borders directly on the municipality of Nörvenich with the place Eggersheim .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in a list of properties of the Prüm Abbey in 867 as "Ludesheym" . The ending "heim", as everywhere in the area, indicates a Franconian foundation.
Viticulture can still be traced in Lüxheim in 1755 .
The Rengershausen mill , located on the boundary of Eggersheim, was first mentioned in 1502 as a grain mill on the Neffelbach. Today fallow deer are raised there .
From 1916 to 1958 the place had a water tower .
On July 1, 1969, Lüxheim was incorporated into Müddersheim. The place came on January 1, 1972 together with Müddersheim within the framework of the Aachen law to the new municipality Vettweiß.
traffic
The B 477 runs through the center with a sharp S-curve . The main road follows the old Roman military route from Neuss to Zülpich ( Roman road Trier – Neuss ). Until 1960 Lüxheim had a tram stop from Düren via Nörvenich and Zülpich to Embken . Today's bus traffic is operated in front of the Rurtalbus . The lines 208 and SB8 run from Zülpich to Nörvenich and Düren and the SB 15 runs from Froitzheim via Vettweiß - Nörvenich to Buir
