The church is registered under the number Lüx-02 in the list of monuments of the municipality of Vettweiß .
history
The chapel was built in the second half of the 13th century and is the oldest building in the town. Changes were made in the 15th and 16th Century. The roof turret was in the 17./18. Century. The chapel shows features of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. The chapel used to stand within the grounds of the so-called Kapellenhof, which was later also called Schallen-, Burg- and Gabrielshof

The small church is a single-aisled tuff stone building with a semicircular apse as well as a blind arch structure and fine pilaster strips . The old window division is still partially recognizable. The ogival windows are new . Paul Weigmann created in 1992 and 1994 stained-glass windows for the chapel in the stained glass Oidtmann were made
The sacristy annex is made of bricks .
Since 2010 the St. Nikolaus Chapel in Lüxheim, which used to be a branch church of Gladbach , has belonged to the parish of St. Marien, Vettweiß.
