Ginnick is a district of the municipality of Vettweiß in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Ginnick is located on the extreme south-western edge of the Zülpicher Börde in the pre- eifel region . The highest point in the municipality of Vettweiß is at the water tower at 231 m above sea ​​level . The FFH area Ginnicker Bruch is located south of Ginnick .

history

Ginnick was first mentioned in 1176. The place name comes from the Old High German word ginicki and is derived from the name for a curve or bend in the terrain = "genic".

Another mention can be found on a Tranchot Müffling menu. Around 1801 the place was called Gimnich.

On July 1, 1969, Ginnick was incorporated into Vettweiß.

Ginnick used to grow wine . The vineyards are first mentioned in 1514 between Froitzheim and Ginnick. There was also a press house there . In 1716 the Elector of the Palatinate, the then sovereign of Jülich-Berg, owned 19 acres of 1 quarter 2 pints of vineyard around Ginnick.
