In Königshardt, 7547 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) live in an area of ​​6.66 km². Königshardt forms with the Sterkrader Heide , a part of Tackenberg and Sterkrade -Mitte the postcode district 46145, whereby a north-western part of the district around the Höhenweg belongs to the district 46147. Starting in the north, the district is bounded clockwise as follows: Ebereschenweg, Buchenweg and Pfalzgrafenstraße to Walsumermark , the Hiesfelder Wald to Kirchhellen , the Halde Haniel and the Herzogstraße to Fuhlenbrock , the federal highway 2 to Tackenberg and Alsfeld and the federal highway 3 to Schmachtendorf .

The Höhenweg continues in Walsumermark, the Pfalzgrafenstraße forms the border to this district. Kleekampstrasse and Fernewaldstrasse continue to Tackenberg, Kirchhellener Strasse to Alsfeld. The Bürgermeisterweg continues in Schmachtendorf.

Bundesautobahn 2 runs along the Königshardt border, with exit 2 Oberhausen-Königshardt on the south-eastern edge of the district. In addition, the following state and district roads cross the district:

Most of the street names in the district date back to 1917, when the mayor's office in Hiesfeld was dissolved and the southern part (Schmachtendorf, Walsumermark, Königshardt) came to Sterkrade.

One thematic group is particularly striking in Königshardt: a lot of street names are named after bird species. These include Adlerstrasse, Ammerweg, Dohlenstrasse, Elsternstrasse, Falkestrasse, Häherstrasse, Kleiberweg, Krähenstrasse, Schwalbenweg and Storchenring. The black grouse is also a genus of birds, but the name refers to the black grouse that actually occurs and is also located in the Kleekamp settlement, so it does not belong to this topic group. Thus, a quarter of all Königshardt streets without any local reference is named after bird species.
