List of vice counties in France
The following list of the vice-counties of France contains those French lordships that were set up by the counts from the administration of the counties in the important places as representations, as vice-counties .
In the Middle Ages , it was common for subjugated counties to fall to the rank of vice-counties; conversely, it was also possible that vice-counts, for example, if the count's level broke away - mostly out of their own power - used the vacancy to rise to the rank of count.
