Capitals of the territories
In 1911, the Federal Capital Territory (renamed in 1938) was separated from New South Wales, and in 1913 the future Australian capital of Canberra was founded (1927 official move of Parliament). In 1989 the territory received a Legislative Assembly, until then it was administered by the federal government.

The Northern Territory was administered by South Australia until 1911, and until 1978 it was under the administration of the federal government in Canberra. 1927-31, the territory was divided into the two territories of North and Central Australia, which were also administered by the federal government. In 1978 the territory received a Legislative Assembly.
