The originally late Gothic residence was converted into a moated castle in the 16th century and was given its present form around the middle of the 17th century. The three-storey square around a rectangular inner courtyard is surmounted by a square clock tower on the western front. It has precious furnishings with paintings, miniatures and a porcelain collection.

The garden pavilion (also known as the glass house) at Brunnsee Palace dates from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century and bears the Saurau coat of arms . The wings have been removed, the preserved central part is provided with plenty of stucco both inside and outside. The ceiling fresco is by Franz Ignaz Flurer and is dated 1733.

The core of the former citizens' hospital dates from the 16th century; according to the inscription, it was built in 1560 by Hanns von Stubenberg . Elongated structure with the crooked gable facing the street. The facade was changed around 1900.

The town hall is a simple, three-story building that was started in 1665 after the demolition of the old town hall in 1565, with a dominant square clock tower in the middle, which is marked 1668. The sculptures in facade niches, including Emperor Leopold I and Count W. Stubenberg , at the top the Archangel Michael , are from the construction period and can be attributed to Johannes Prandtner . There are also seven sandstone reliefs from the 3rd quarter of the 16th century with biblical scenes taken from the old building and a view of the market with the old town hall. Inside there are several reliefs with scenes from the Old Testament, a votive image with the fire of 1768 and a relief view of the town from the 3rd quarter of the 16th century. The bell dates from 1737.

At the parish church on the northwestern outskirts, the lower part of the medieval south tower has been preserved. In the second half of the 18th century the church was completely rebuilt and now consists of a five-bay nave and a retracted three-bay choir. The flat west facade was built in the years 1770–1772. The square south tower was raised in 1892 and given an onion helmet. The interior is from the construction time.

The branch church of St. Patrizius is a chapel-like building next to the parish church and was built in 1740 by Georg Maritschnigg . The simple hall building with hollow vaults has a decorative gable on the outside and was restored in 1967. The baroque high altar dates from the middle of the 18th century, the pulpit, dated 1745, is connected to a wooden singing gallery .

The two-storey building from the 17th century has a slightly curved facade, in the middle of which there is a late Renaissance portal with a sheet mask. The ground floor room with its central pillar was probably the vestibule of the Nikolaikapelle, which was demolished in the 19th century.
