The parsonage with church is mentioned as early as 1074 in a donation to the new Admont Abbey and was an important ecclesiastical administrative seat of the Pongau, while the secular administration relocated to (Hohen-) Werfen from the 12th century . Rectory and parish church form a fortified church-like unit.

Late Gothic church, core of the 14th century, the central nave was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. Century heightened with ribbed vaults, the aisles are from the first phase. On the outside, a still medieval-looking Christophorus fresco from the 16th century.
