List of church buildings maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust in South East England

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Churches Conservation Trust is a non-profit foundation whose purpose is to protect endangered historic church buildings, i.e. those that have been declared redundant by the Church of England . The foundation was established through the Pastoral Measure of 1968. In total, the foundation maintains over 340 church buildings in England.

This list includes the 55 church buildings maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust in the Southeast England region , including those in Oxfordshire , Buckinghamshire , Greater London , Berkshire , Hampshire , Surrey , Kent , West Sussex and East Sussex . The age of these ranges from the All Saints Church in West Stourmouth, which was built in Anglo-Saxon times, to the youngest structure on the list, the Holy Trinity Church (Privett) in Privett, which was built from 1876 to 1878. All of these church structures have been placed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest by English Heritage , most of them at Grade I or II * .

Most of these church buildings are still consecrated , so that occasional services still take place. Some of the structures serve as venues for concerts and other purposes.
