1764 The atonement cross at the beginning of the Büttnautal. Flst. No. 1853

If the Benzingers want to get down to Veringenstadt quickly, they use a forest path. It leads past the source of the Büttnau and is called "Katzenstoigle". So there is an old stone cross on the way. It was so submerged in the ground that it had to be exposed in 1962. It is carved out of one piece, massive and heavy. On its cross arm it bears the year 1764 in large Latin letters. The reports about the stone differ. 40 people who were carried away by the plague are buried here, which is difficult to reconcile with the year. It is said to be a "murder cross" again. In 1487 a doctor from Veringen named Eberhard was killed by a certain Hans Ruger at this point. - According to the shape of this hulking stone, one can assume that it stood long before 1764. - The fact that stone was used for these marks of the dead has not the purpose of durability, but a much deeper reason. According to the ideas of the time, the murdered man's soul wandered restlessly. Only a stone was able to give her a resting place, like that which the body found in the grave. When these ideas were replaced by the Christian faith, a cross was placed instead of a simple stone as a symbol of salvation. Therefore, it was also considered a serious crime to damage or remove the stone.

In 2000 the mayor a. D. Stefan Fink restored the Christ body shortly before his death and the body was put back on the day before his burial.

After the stability of the cross was no longer guaranteed, Agnes Fink-Moschkon took the initiative in 2016 to replace the old cross with a new one. Robert and Johannes Schmid as well as Gerold Karkosz took over the local organization and numerous preparatory work. They did the dismantling of the old cross on a voluntary basis, the repair of the supporting foundation iron as well as repairs and the re-installation of the roofing. Karl Riester and Robert Schmid provided well-stored oak wood. The Ruckwid company was entrusted with the sawing and surface treatment of the beams and the erection of the cross. The restorer Willi Mayer from Langenenslingen was entrusted with the restoration of the original Christ body from 1941. The August Moschkon - Stephan Fink Foundation assumed the total costs. 20th War memorial Memorial for the war victims in Veringenstadt - Deutstetten Deutstetten Cemetery , Deutstetter Str. 43

48 ° 11 '4 "N, 9 ° 12' 49" E

circa 1958 For the erection of a memorial for the dead of the two world wars, four designs (models) were presented to the Veringenstadt municipal council by the sculptor Volk from Jungnau, the sculptor Lorch from Munich, the sculptor Walter Schmider from Rottenburg and the painter G. Dietrich from Sigmaringen. The designs were very diverse, but the proposal by sculptor Schmider from Rottenburg quickly received the most sympathy.

The proposal envisaged erecting a growing stone cross on the terrace of what was then the children's cemetery in front of the Deutstetter Church for each year of the war 1914–18 and 1939–45 in order to illustrate the steadily increasing number of fallen and missing persons. Presumably for cost reasons, a uniform size was ultimately implemented. The fact that a cross was put up for each year of the war makes it clear that in the first year of the Second World War no citizen of Veringen died, while in the last year of the war there was almost not enough space for the names. These crosses are arranged in a wavy line and lead to the center, the risen one.

At the meeting of the local council on October 25, 1958, the establishment of the war memorial was unanimously decided. The names of all the local people who died Missing and fallen relatives of the refugees who had moved to Veringenstadt since the war were to be held in an honorable place for "eternal times".

Inaugurated on July 5, 1959 by Pastor Fridolin Abberger.

The cost was 12,000 Deutschmarks.

21st Strüb fountain or town hall fountain Veringenstadt town hall fountain In the Städtle 117

48 ° 10 ′ 43 "N, 9 ° 12 ′ 44" E

June 1957 The town hall fountain is a special gem of Veringenstadt. It was created by the Inzigkofer artist Günther Dietrich (* 1921). The fountain is a monument to a son of the city who was forgotten for centuries: the painter and sculptor Jakob Strüb, who lived around 1500 and is known in literature as the “ Master of Sigmaringen ”. In addition, the most interesting chapters in the history of Veringenstadt are depicted on six reliefs, whose dynasty of counts played an important role in the Middle Ages and founded the cities of Isny , Riedlingen , Stockach and Gammertingen . The historical sequence of scenes on the lower part of the fountain begins with the laying of the foundation stone for the castle in 1134 and then shows the granting of market privileges by envoy of King Rudolf von Habsburg in 1285. The Veringen witch trial from 1680, the alluvial image of a pilgrimage image and motifs The class craft are further scenes of the historical foray that extends into the present; two of the pictures show the reception of the refugees after the Second World War and a municipal council meeting.
