Little Amadeus - The Adventures of Young Mozart is a German animated series that was created in 2006 as a co-production by ARD and KiKA on the occasion of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th birthday. Parallel to the series, there were elementary school days of action, a KiKA summer tour, a Little Amadeus Opera, Little Amadeus Live and other activities in Germany around Amadeus Mozart.

The 26-part series tells stories from the childhood and life of the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . The focus is on the figure of eight-year-old "Little Amadeus", who is funny, lively, curious, a little cheeky and adventurous. But above all, Little Amadeus is a musical child prodigy who composed his first piano piece at the age of five. The hero often solves his problems by making music.

action

The first two seasons of the television series (each with 13 episodes) are set in Salzburg in the second half of the 18th century, where Little Amadeus lives together with his parents, his sister Nannerl, his best friend Kajetan Hagenauer and his family in Getreidegasse. Not to forget Little Amadeus' little dog Pumperl (WA Mozart's dog was called Pimperl , his name was changed to Pumperl for the television series due to the meaning of the English term pimp ), who loves to stick his curious dog nose into the affairs of strangers. All of them get into adventurous and breakneck situations again and again. Because Amadeus 'opponent, the ambitious and sly Court Marshal Devilius, his nephew Mario and the cunning rat Monti, do everything possible to prevent Little Amadeus' musical success. But regardless of whether it is a question of escaping parental drama after an extended slide with Princess Marie-Antoinette at the imperial court in Vienna, organizing a rescue operation in the monastery of the "Silent Sisters" or, at the very last minute, a performance by a magician and his piano playing poodle - with the help of music Little Amadeus succeeds in freeing himself and his friends time and again from every tricky situation.

Figures of the series

Little Amadeus (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, full baptismal name: Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart ): Amadeus is not yet eight and already a small star in Salzburg in the middle of the 18th century. He enchants people with his music. Who resents his arrogance, his weakness for everything sweet and his little pranks? With creativity, wit, charm, ingenuity and above all with the help of his friends, Amadeus manages to free himself from even the most difficult situation, so that in the end even Devilius, his greatest adversary, always loses out.

Nannerl Mozart: Maria Anna, just called Nannerl by everyone, is Amadeus' five years older sister. She plays the piano and violin almost as virtuoso as her brother, but as a girl she was not allowed to perform alone at the time, only with him. But she is not jealous of Amadeus, but helps him wherever she can. Again and again she lets herself be infected by his fantastic ideas and then doesn't behave like a little lady at all, which she would like to be, but like a buddy.

Pumperl: The dog Pumperl likes to put his curious dog's nose into strange matters and never miss an adventure with his master Amadeus. That could often catch the eye if Pumperl weren't a born savior. He proves his wisdom and courage especially in tricky situations. WA Mozart's dog was called "Pimperl". For the series, his name was changed to "Pumperl".

Leopold Mozart: Father Leopold Mozart teaches Nannerl and Amadeus with love and rigor. He is very proud of his two child prodigies. As court composer and vice bandmaster at the Salzburg Prince Archbishop, he uses all his connections and opportunities to bring the wonderful music of Amadeus into the world. He organizes concert tours and appearances - even if he gets into trouble with his employer and gets into financial difficulties again and again.

Anna Maria Mozart: Conviviality and fun are top priorities for mother Anna Maria. She rarely lets dust, clutter and sloppiness get away. But Amadeus knows how to wrap his mother around his finger. Anna Maria is the calming pole in the family. She also makes sure that Amadeus has enough time for his friends in addition to the music.

Kajetan Hagenauer: Kajetan is Amadeus' best friend. The two spend every free minute in Salzburg together and experience many small and large adventures. And if they get stuck again, only Kajetan knows how to implement a clever idea from Amadeus. Without Kajetan, Amadeus would sometimes be in a fix. But Amadeus reciprocates by helping Kajetan with the math problems every now and then. Together they are an unbeatable team.

Lorenzo Devilius: Lorenzo Devilius (a fictional character, derived from Antonio Salieri ) is private secretary and court marshal to the Prince Archbishop in Salzburg. His lust for power is insatiable. He considers himself a gifted musician and therefore little Amadeus is his greatest enemy. Behind Devilius' elegant appearance hides a slick servant of the episcopal court. But behind the scenes, every means is right for him to boycott the success of little Amadeus and his family in order to present himself as a radiant hero.

Mario Carrieri: Devilius' nephew Mario (a fictional character) is only a little older than Amadeus. His uncle brought him from Milan to Salzburg to compete with the musical prodigy Amadeus. Unfortunately, Mario is only a moderately good music student and not a radiant personality, but his uncle doesn't want to see that. Although Mario competes with Amadeus in many ways, he would love to be his friend in the depths of his heart.

Monti: Monti, the rat (a fictional character and companion of the Amadeus envious Devilius), is Devilius' little darling and accomplice. He is always close by, because he prefers to be carried in Devilius' jacket pocket. And he is especially a "hawker" when it comes to concocting devious plans. With his treacherous, intelligent advice, Monti supports Devilius in order to weaken the envied Amadeus.

Maria Theresia, Johann Lorenz and Ursel Hagenauer: Maria Theresia Hagenauer and Johann Lorenz are the landlords and best friends of the Mozart family. On the ground floor of the shared house they run their business with delicious pastries , which the archbishop also appreciates. Kajetan Hagenauer, a son of the Hagenauers, is Little Amadeus' best friend. Ursel, one of her daughters, can usually be found near Amadeus' sister Nannerl: She is the best place to talk about the latest hair bows and clothes.

Kati: The daughter of the Salzburg town baker, Kati, has two admirers in her vicinity: Amadeus and Mario. While she feels rather contempt for Mario and his swindles, she adores the young musician Mozart, who - in addition to her magical smile - appreciates her direct and open manner. Besides Amadeus, Kati has another weakness: the irresistible chocolate croissants from the Hagenauer family.

Countess Kussmaul: In her Salzburg villa, the widowed Countess Kussmaul (a fictional figure who represents members of the high society of the time who adored the child prodigy) could lead a carefree life in luxury, but despite her wealth and the many celebrations with her noble people With friends, the countess is constantly complaining: these migraines are terrible, how terrible this uncleaned silverware. Fortunately, she knows Amadeus, her little sunshine, who always makes her laugh with his melodies and jokes, even if he hates nothing more than the countess' constant kisses.

Prince Archbishop Schrattenbach: The Prince Archbishop of Schrattenbach (full name: Sigismund III. Christoph von Schrattenbach ) is a great admirer of little Amadeus: He loves music and is impressed by his spontaneity and intelligence. As the regent of the small state of Salzburg, the archbishop has many opportunities to protect his little friend Amadeus, the son of his court composer, and to send him out into the world with letters of recommendation. To the chagrin of his private secretary, Court Marshal Devilius, who always tries to prevent this - but without success. A secret weakness of the Archbishop in the heat of the moment are little slip of the tongue, sometimes with a strange effect.
