Liu was a sports soldier and is now an officer in the Chinese army . That's why she also competed for the Armed Forces Ski Club . She started biathlon in 1993, and two years later she contested her first major international race as part of the 1995 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz . There she finished 41st in the sprint, 51st in the individual and tenth with the Chinese women's relay around Song Aiqin , Sun Ribo and Wang Jinfen . It was not until the 1996 World Cup that she made her debut in a biathlon World Cup race. In a sprint in Pokljuka she was 70th. With the relay she came in sixth shortly afterwards in Östersund , in 1997 she even reached third place with Yu Shumei , Liu Xianying and Sun Ribo in Nagano . Shortly before, Liu ran her second world championships in Osrblie and was 44th in the individual, 59th in the sprint but only 13th with the relay. Career highlight was the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, where it was only used in the relay. With her she ran to seventh place. Overall, the Chinese always achieved her greater success in relay races, she was never able to win World Cup points in individual races. Her best individual result was a 37th place in the individual at the beginning of the 1998/99 season in Hochfilzen . After the season, Liu ended her active career.
